ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Reverie was made with the Unreal Engine 4, using built in tools and royalty-free assets found on TurboSquid. The environments were modeled after my previous bedroom, which I had lived in for a few years until early 2019. Two versions of the room were made, one is a re-imagining/replica of the room, and the other has been given a twist inspired by the Upside Down from the television series 'Stranger Things'.
I originally had never had any experience with working with UE4, however I had always been fascinated by the countless works of art that others have crafted with the same software. One of my biggest inspirations is a trailer for an indie game called 'Lost Soul Aside' which was made by Korean game designer Yang Bing, which simply blew me away after watching it. According to interviews, he had worked on the entire project alone for 2 whole years using the UE4 and he himself was inspired by a trailer for game called 'Final Fantasy XV' which was being developed by Square Enix. He has since recieved support from Sony and is currently working with a small team of around 9 people developing the game. A release date has not been announced as of February 05, 2019.
I've always been fascinated by video game worlds, virtual reality, CG films and what people were able to achieve with it. Seeing the trailer for his amazing game was like a final push for me to try it out for the first time.
Overall from what I've made, it's safe to say I'm still pretty much an amateur. I have a long way to learn before I can create anything truly impressive, however I'm still quite happy with what I've learnt and made.
